Hello. I'm in a situation that I really need help to get out of.
I am a middle-aged divorced woman and writer who is disabled due to a chronic illness that makes it impossible for me to hold a steady job. My small income (SSDI) barely covers basic necessities. There's never anything left for unexpected expenses. Because of this I was homeless for five months. Now I have a small apartment, but the move itself took all the money I had and then some, leaving me with a major bank overdraft and nothing to pay bills with. Each month I pay it off (they take it out when my SSDI arrives) but paying rent, utilities, etc. just puts me back in the hole again. It gets worse each month and the stress & anxiety it is causing is making me physically ill. Right now I have no money to pay my rent and electric bills or to even put gas in my car. It will take over $1600 to pay off these things. I am terrified of being homeless again.
I have contacted area agencies & charities but they either say they have little or no funds to help anyone. It is very discouraging.
I need to settle these bills and get back on track. Without the stress of this financial mess hanging over me I will be able to start doing a little freelance writing for extra income to keep things paid and maybe even get ahead a little.
If someone out there feels called to help me, please let me know as soon as possible. At least please add your prayers to mine.
Thank you, and May God bless you.
